60 seconds that mattered to Global Fellowship November/December 2011
Christmas Greeting 2011

Political leaders from all over the world has just left the climate-summit in Durban, South Africa. Back in their countries the discussion fluctuates among scientists and politicians: was the result good enough, was it sufficient, can it provide a better future?
Another summit is getting closer. Not with politicians participating, only with one person meeting the rest of the world. In that situation it makes no sense to ask with the language of a scientist if this meeting will provide a sufficient result. Nothing less than Heaven is meeting the earth, represented by a baby in the manger. Analyses and calculations have to give up, when the consequences of this meeting will be described. But in a language of faith we are told that a new light has been given us, a great joy proclaimed, hope for the future. All with such a tremendous power that angles have to sing: Don’t fear.
With those 2 words we are sent right into the world. In the middle of our life, where it seems to be night and darkness, light is shining, and we can meet the big challenges of the life (climate issues, crisis, conflicts) with a steady proclamation: There is more to be said then descending curves, and pessimistic expectations to each other, because there is joy to bring to the joyless, hope to the hopeless, and healing to the vulnerable livings. You and I have to carry this message from the manger to the world.
Merry Christmas
