60 seconds that mattered to Global Fellowship November/December 2011
Christmas Greeting 2011

Political leaders from all over the world has just left the climate-summit in Durban, South Africa. Back in their countries the discussion fluctuates among scientists and politicians: was the result good enough, was it sufficient, can it provide a better future?
Another summit is getting closer. Not with politicians participating, only with one person meeting the rest of the world. In that situation it makes no sense to ask with the language of a scientist if this meeting will provide a sufficient result. Nothing less than Heaven is meeting the earth, represented by a baby in the manger. Analyses and calculations have to give up, when the consequences of this meeting will be described. But in a language of faith we are told that a new light has been given us, a great joy proclaimed, hope for the future. All with such a tremendous power that angles have to sing: Don’t fear.
With those 2 words we are sent right into the world. In the middle of our life, where it seems to be night and darkness, light is shining, and we can meet the big challenges of the life (climate issues, crisis, conflicts) with a steady proclamation: There is more to be said then descending curves, and pessimistic expectations to each other, because there is joy to bring to the joyless, hope to the hopeless, and healing to the vulnerable livings. You and I have to carry this message from the manger to the world.
Merry Christmas

WARF

The region in West Africa has just held their regional meeting in Gambia. This was the first time BB Gambia had hosted such a meeting. BB Gambia new President is Bishop Johnson. The WARF meeting attended the Sunday service in the capital Banjul and the entire collection would go towards financing the WARF event. Unfortunately not all members from the region were able to attend.
As a consequence the next WARF meeting should be held in one of the countries which did not attended this meeting. The Global Fellowship’s mentor for the region, Bill Bates was present and participated in the event.
Workshop in Gambia

At same time as the WARF meeting was taking place, BB Gambia hosted a workshop for young leaders. The workshop was facilitated by the British mentor for the region and by the Ghanaian BB coordinator, and training officers. 12 young officers participated.

Tanzania

Boys Brigade in the Diocese of Mara, Tanzania was restarted in November 2009. Since then it has made steady progress. Since November 2009 there have been 22 Companies opened in the Diocese of Mara, Tanzania; but opening new Companies is a reasonably easy task. The hard work involves training young men to be good confident leaders to teach the Boys the various aspects of the BB programme. This has been one of the many focuses of BB Mara.
Earlier this year in May, BB Mara ran a 5 day Training Seminar for the BB leaders. There were in total 90 people involved in the Training Seminar. A very successful 5 days. As a result of this Seminar BB Mara continued to be strengthened, because from 21 Companies many young men were trained to be better equipped at leading BB weekly
meetings.

In September BB Mara ran 3 different camps for the Boys in 3 different village churches. On September 23rd - 25th, boys from 8 different Companies, of a total of 76 boys and 15 leaders, enjoyed 3 days of good bible teaching, games, drill and craft.
Again a week later on September 30th – October 2nd in 2 different village churches, 10 different Brigade Companies, a total of 98 boys and 20 leaders met together for good bible teaching, games, drill and craft.
